Indeed it is. The shift supervisor immediately put everyone on rations for the food and water that was already pre-positioned in the mine's safety capsule. It was also a huge help that one of the drifts they had access to had groundwater in it.

That one guy was a real character. A married man of over 30 years (I think), the first thing he said to his wife was "how's the dog". LOL

I read that on a news site, so I'm positive of the validity.

What a great demonstration of the human spirit. Quite moving to see them come up and be greeted by their family

Some guy down there was keeping in shape by running in the tunnels...

I went into an underground coal mine in AL down to about 500', just once. Never again. I've got no problem cave crawling, but the coal mine is spookier, and I never trusted pine for shoring posts.

I lost a good high school friend who majored in mining engineering and went to work in an Ohio underground coal mine, and had the damn thing blow up with him in it only a year or two out of 'Bama. RIP, Dickey...

Or by their girlfriend, as was the case for one of the miners. As it turns out, the wife and girlfriend of the fella battled it out in the waiting room before he surfaced. Apparently, the girlfriend won as she greeted him, to his obvious surprise. His expression, when he saw her, was priceless.

This is the kind of stuff you get on the Japanese news...

EDIT: I found this story in the NY Post: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/internation...I#ixzz0yU45J9zk

Might have been safer staying down there, unless both are skinny enough to fit in the capsule...

Need a Spot
Hi there, I've heard that they have a lot's of job offer. I haven't followed the story as closely as I could have so I might have missed something. I've tried to find details in the papers and online but there doesn't seem to be an explanation. How did the trapped miners survive for so long?

Thats why you keep your girlfriend at least two zip codes away from your wife.

The old professional officer's corps of the Army had an unwritten rule about keeping one's indiscretions 100miles from the flagpole. I wonder how they managed at Scofield Barracks in Hawaii?

Obviously some form of watercraft must've been involved...

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...
