k. so the window crank knob disintegrated at about 163k. i fabbed something using a skateboard bushing, screw and washer. all that has worked well until recently at 170k the window will crank all the way up and when it gets right to the point where it's fully closed, the crank slips and the window falls about 3/4". if i pull the window up and let it slip a few times while cranking up, it'll stay fully closed i took it all apart and it seems the crank is like an enclosed pinion, and its teeth mesh with this protractor looking thing with teeth. well, something happens when it gets to the last couple teeth. the protractor thing looks ok, i think maybe things are both worn to the point where it slips at that angle.
ok, now that i probably made no sense, does anyone know what i'm talking about and how to fix this?

Yeah, please do (search) but I don't recall seeing too much on this before although my memory is far from effective LOL. yeah i did. i think this is probably classified as a manual regulator failure. looking at the FSM, it looks like they call that entire thing the regulator...and it doesn't look serviceable, just replaceable ; )

double posting because i realized my junk box has some OE chrome window visors. until i figure out how and where to get a new manual regulator, i could just affix the visors HOWEVER i don't see anything in the FSM about how to affix these. there is no evidence of adhesive or anything - somehow they slide in. i put them on and they don't look like they will stay in with wind whipping and road bumps so i masked everything off and applied some clear silicone, pressed them in, and applied more silicone. pulled back the tape and it's a fine neat bead. we'll see if it holds lol.
EDIT: i guess these aren't OE - they look like stainless steel, and have "ventshade" lightly imprinted on them in basic type...really small and light. ancient stuff here. who the heck knows where they came from.

Built, I just have to ask. does your truck have a bouncy seat, and at 325lbs, does it work? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

I beg to differ! I am no longer norrer assted, since I quit smoking. My body weight increased by 27percent since January. And I'm still under 200...
Really just curious if the adjustment range went that high, since I run mine at about 50% tension on the spring.
