My '94 pickup 22re looks like it may have blown another HG, although I don't know for sure yet. I'm looking at some 1'st generation 4runners on Craigslist as a replacement.

What I'm curious about is how easy or hard that top is to remove, AND also how secure is that top for storing gear in? It looks like there are rear sliding windows.

I'm also wondering if the back opens somehow for easy access to my gear?

Were rear seats standard?

Removal/installation:

Fairly secure, sliding windows have latches sort of like a rear sliding window on a pickup.

Rear window rolls up and down:

Rear seats are pretty standard, if not they can be easily added.

and you can add in the fact that the sliding windows don't really slide that well most of the time, so they are just about impossible to open without some persuasion.

I would say they are more secure than the slider on a pickup due to the latch location.

yes, removing is very easy. Chances are some PO has had it off already, and there will only be a few bolts left holding it on.

2 guys can easily lift it off/put it back on - it's 100% fiberglass except for the window glass (well and teh small L-channel on teh sides that tends to rust) so it's pretty light.

I do liek ROger, and use ratchet straps in the garage to take it off and put it back down by myself.

As mentioned the windows tend to stick.
Think of it like being a pickup w/ a cap on it, but no back wall between teh front seats and the back part.

Some S hooks in the garage and 2 ratchet straps is the best way to get it on and off.

I have taken mine off by myself before by getting underneath it in the cab, and lifting it up by my shoulders and sliding it back.
