Noticed now that it is getting darker earlier that you cannot see in the back cargo area after dark. Did the later models have one that could be retro fitted? Or something aftermarket?
I know the easiest option might be one of those battery powered led stick lights but something more factory looking.
Thanks again!

Gen II SR's actually used an early Gen I dome light in the back. At least my brothers does. I'm sure most anything can easily be adapted. I have a new Gen I I'm installing up front and using my stock one in the back.

I removed the non-functioning dome light from my Raider...first modification that I did to it so many years ago. I ordered an aftermarket Grote brand interior light fixture that uses an 1156 light bulb (same as the turn signal bulb). Unfortunately, the unit I installed doesn't work with the door switch, but you can read by it outside the back door at night. There is no easy way to mount a stock piece above the rear door on a 2-door model. The 4-door came with a different upper door frame, and the lamp there did not operate with the front lamp anyway. My lamp is like this: Grote #61491-5 My advice, get an aftermarket lamp assembly, install it and go on your merry way. Russell

This is odd. My 91RS has a cargo light with a 3 position switch. On-Off-On w/ door IIRC.
I think my 89LS has the same light.
Will double-check my 87 Raider later too.
I wonder if this was package related vs. model year availability?

I didn't get a chance to check to be sure but I suspect the 2 doors don't have one in back. There is one in between the seats up front though.

To clarify, I have a 2 door Raider. There is a dome light with the 3 position switch over the driver's head. But the light only comes on with the front doors.

You ought to put the Yr/Model Raider in your signature. Edit 40K Miles only?!? What a find.

To clarify, I have a 2 door Raider. There is a dome light with the 3 position switch over the driver's head. But the light only comes on with the front doors. I checked my 87 SWB and yes it has only the 1 main dome light between the F7R passenger seats. But mine has a 3 position lever much like the cargo area light found on my LWB rigs. You might be able to scavange one at a yard with a length of 18 or 20AWG wire, splice it into the rear harness for a power feed. Or one of the guys here should have a spare dome light with a 3position flippy switch! Good luck! Jim
