Question for anyone who's installed the the sliders on a Gen II.
Which size did you order 58", 67" or 76' slider? Also would you recommend getting the gussets?
Thanks,
~ Jon

Just make sure to have pretty welds. Or don't post pictures of ugly welds.
Or you'll incur the wrath of the Structural Welding Gestapo...
Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

It is the motivator for me to get some sliders for my Monty. I will never ever post a picture of weld on this forum for fear of the Structural Welding Gestapo! Anyway, I'll probably have to pay a pro to install the sliders since I know nothing about welding. Hey anyone in the NW have welding skills? Promise not to post any pictures of the welds. ~ Jon

LOL. It was no skin off of my back being criticized. I've always said constructive criticism is good.
Ex. That weld looks bad because XXXXX... It should look like this XX. Notice the XX and the XXX. This is what a good weld should look like.
What I think that thread illustrates is comments like what was posted aren't welcome. This aint Pirate right?
Its a shame too since from all appearances that guy built trophy race trucks. It also illustrates that just because you're an expert in a subject area doesn't make you an expert teacher.

Are you going to install a body lift in the future? If so... I'd do that first. You might search craigslist for welders.

Thanks for the responses! Anyone know how to do multiple quotes? Zarktheshark - Welding is on my list as well. This would probably be a good project to use as a learning project just need to find a teacher. We should get together and do some wheeling. If you can try to make it out to the Naches run in two weeks. We'll be running the trail from West to East which should make it pretty easy even if its wet. Recon - If I was closer, I'd try to talk you in to selling the sliders Off-Roader: I hear you, no problem with constructive criticism Montypower - Interesting, no plans for a body lift. I thought the SRs came from the factory with a two inch body lift, can anyone confirm that. If it doesn't, then you are right, I should look into that before adding the sliders. Thanks, ~ Jon
