My catalytic converter was stolen yesterday from my 91 pickup.

My question is there a "Better" choice for it's replacement?

I have a $250.00 deductible on my insurance so money isn't a problem.

It's just crazy what people will do nowadays!!! Are you running anything other then a stock setup? If not I'd say go with an OE replacement, whatever floats your boat there. I can't see spending much on a "high flow" type.

The officer said there were 7 reported cats stolen that night.

I do want to stay with the stock Toyota unit. But I am looking for the best one to use.

I've read posts where someone uses an after market Cat and had to reinstall the old one to pass smog shortly after wards.

My old one was 2 1/4 in and out. I know they make smaller units.

Body Damage is Cool
I use one from LCEngineering on mine.
Back when I had to do smog, it seemed to pass OK.
That was 5 years ago now.
No inspections where I am now.

Roll Me Over
The main issue with the aftermarket cats are their size. Oem cats are easily twice the size of most of the aftermarket ones, and is why they seem to have an issue. Side by side comparison.

Given the new CA smog regulations, the CARB approved cats shouldn't have the same issues as the old ones did.
