Getting the Wheeling Fever
I now have a 98 montero but i am thinking of getting a GEN3.
I found a 03 anniversary with 14K miles for 18500 and a 05 with 70K miles for 14500. Both are in great shape.
Not that there is anything wrong with mine, love it.
Whatever i get i will customize it a bit.
Much cheaper than the new 4runner i like.
Opinions please.

Not much difference between the 2 that I have seen. I don't have one, but I do want one. wish they still shipping to the US. I look at this link for general info.

Curious if people would take an 03 with the low miles or the 05 with the higher miles. Yeah, not much of a difference between them.

If price isn't a factor, then I would go with the low miles, but for me, when i buy a new car, I'm not going to "settle" on something. I'm going to find the one i want and buy it, even if it cost more.

The 05 for me! These trucks aren't made to sit in the driveway...they want to be driven. Lack of miles can present its own problems!

The 05 is 2 years into a new powertrain...it should be well sorted.

I have 155000 on my 01...other than a leaky cam seal and a broken bolt holding the skid plate tight (causes an annoying rattle) I'd drive this thing around the world!

Just convinced my good friend to buy an 04 with 57000 miles on it. He's thanked me about a hundred times since he bought it last month.

Does your leaky cam seal drip oil on the Cat?

On to the Left Bank Pre-cat. US models have 4 O2 sensors where as RoW trucks have just one...so no Wildcat headers for us either!
