Our old 4Runner - 1995 V6 4X4 SR5 is having issues with rear brakes. They stick. Sometimes hard to pull away from a stop and one will hear/feel them release but still seems to drag. ABS will kick in on non-slippery stop - I assume because the rear brakes are locking up. We have pulled the drums and everything looks to be good. We have cleaned and greased etc in an effort to ensure that everything moves as it should. No success so far. Anyone experience this and have a solution?

No experience with ABS brake maintenance; is Manitoba a rust belt? If adjusting them doesn't fix it, then you might consider looking at the brake cylinders themselves; one suggestion at least.

When's the last time the brake fluid was completely flushed? This should be done every 2-3 years, as brake fluid attracts water (hydroscopic).

I would do that and make sure the brakes are properly adjusted before throwing parts at it. Make sure you bleed the LSPV also. Your brake fluid should look the color of flax, not brown/amber.

There is a bell crank to operate the parking brake and those get corrotuded over time and cause brake shoes to stick. I'm having mine powder coated to fix that problem.

All good ideas. Thanks for the input.
Younger son, who is driving the beast, is also final level auto mechanic apprentice, so reasonably adept at this stuff. He has checked it out a couple of times and says, so far, everything looks good.
Just wondered if anyone else had experienced something similar.
