Shoot that's not cheap, I have cheap lights...4 walmart Baja lights for $20, craigslist.

Not a realistic cost comparison cause not everyone can find that deal.

$120 gets you 8 sealed weatherproof river/stream submersible LED pods. I've crossed enough streams and taken high speed passes through street puddles to know a normal lamp setup underneath would be trouble in the long term.

Also glad theyre leds since i already have a lot of load on my alternator. The total draw for all 8 pods is less than 2 amps total.

Plus with mounting them underneath can be problematic. They're so small, they can easily be mounted almost anywhere.

Ya got me, I just wanted to brag. But can't really cause I haven't finished the wiring because my altenator went out on me so I took care of that and now it's too cold to hang out in the garage. Thankfull that I moving to San Anotonio in Feb, just not Feb.

And where would I buy this set, it sounds great.

Ok, got some good ideas from y'all.
Here's my choices (cheap and not-so-cheap)

Fog Lights for the front bumper

spot light for the roof.

When I worked for a security company they had a magnetic spot light like that on the Ranger that we drove around, it was pretty fun and helped me spot deer along the river all night. Of course the extra lighting helped me get through some of the coast to coast interviews.

I bought mine from sierraexpeditions.com for the same price plus shipping. They're located in Tempe and local to you AZ guys so that might save you locals a few $$'s.

Bit the bullet and bought something similar to what you describe.

Now, I beg the question, will a stock 2.6 Raider's alternator handle this load?
And, if I can't locate a magnetic base for this, anybody have any ideas how to mount on roof WITHOUT drilling into roof?

It should since it's simply a 66w load just 11 watts more than a standard 55w bulb.
You should be able to buy heavy duty magnets online. i'd epoxy that to the unit's base and then put it on your roof when needed.

Thinking outside the box (no pun intended!)
Went by a place that refurbishes old PCs. Tech said magnets are strong but will only hold about 10 #s.

Went to hardware store and found these. Rated for 65# each... Magnetic hook
Of course, I will have to punch the centers out but these boogers are stout!
