So, been reading a bit, but not sure which i should go with a fiberglass setup 4ft, or something like the 102 stainless whip? It's giong on a 87 swb. I was thinking if I grabbed a 102 I could secure it off to my rack when not off road, but advice from people who have experience is always better.

I have an 8' fiberglass whip on the right rear corner, bumper level. Works fine for me, and has doubled as a place for orange flagging tape to flap from on job sites in the past.

So far I havent had any luck finding anything over 4' I've checked radio shack, a ham place and frys. Any ideas on a place that may actually carry them in stock?

If you have any large truck stops nearby you should be able to pick one up.

"That's a big 10-4, good buddy!"

I have dual 9' stainless whips on my 1-ton, with a splitter.

if you can handle the length the 102 ss whip is the best out there and the cheapest. it was all I would run on my trucks for years when I talked cb

dont buy the fiberglass ones from radio shack...you would be just as good off to put a clothes hanger in the back

I'm going to give the 102 a try, since apparently they dont need to be tuned since they are 1/4 wave I'm most likely going to keep it secured to the front of my tack I'll probably mount it on the rr.

I called around to a few radioshacks and managed to locate one for 20 bucks. Gonna go pick it up tonight I'm probably jumping the gun a little considering its not quite running yet, but eh, I found a old cb in the closet the other day and I know it will be handly on the trail

Be sure to buy a good mount...my mount cost more than the whip but you really need it for the woods. And to make it perfect 1/4 wave you need a large barrel spring. 5 or 6 inch I think....If you were closer I would give you everything you need
