I have always thought my rig was a bit load going over pot holes, speed bumps, etc and was thinking, hey, that roof is an awful big, thin piece of sheet metal that really can pump out the tinny noise. So, when i took the headliner out, I decided to put some dynomat on it to see if it would help. WOW. On my way to work today, I tried to hit every bump and hole that I would normally try to avoid and was smiling all the way to work. It works great. I paid $75 for one 2x6ft sheet. Cut about 2\3 for the back and centered it and put the rest in the front centered. I don't know if I got robbed on the price, but to me, it was worth it regardless. It's not very thick, so it should not cause any problems with putting the liner back up, but I'm also thinking about doing something different with the headliner. But that is later down the road.

I've heard good things about the product, and it is expensive wherever you buy it. If money were no object, I'd think about pulling all the panels/headliner/carpet and putting it in.

Yeah, it's usage was SOP when building mobile sound systems back in the day. It made worlds of difference in the system sounding like a wet fart or angels singing.
Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

We used similiar material in the yacht building industry. You could not even tell that there were twin 3000hp diesels and a couple of 200kw gensets running through a six inch wall.

So is there a decent 'low cost' alternative? Not interested in rhino/hercu-lining anything either.

I haven't found one. I tried the spray on bedliner stuff on the rear quarter panel and the floor and I didn't notice much if any difference. There is a spray called boommat that is $10 a can and is supposed to cover 10sq ft, but I have not tried it yet and don't know if i will. I'm thinking that I will buy a little more for my inner doors and I'm also looking for a better solution for the hood since I don't like the fact that the oem hoodliner only covers half of the hood. For that I was thinking about a product called lizzard skin, but it cost more and you need a special spray gun <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> still doing research on that.
