Getting the Wheeling Fever
I installed an OME suspension 2 years ago and now the front nose dives when braking. What front shocks do you guys recommend? I am thinking selling the truck soon but until that time i wondered what you guys are using.
I have seen KYB gas, Blistein, KYB monomax.

thanks.

I am either going to get a newer Montero (05-06) or a 4runner (99-02,2010).

I had the same question recently. I'm going KYB from rockauto. Like 39 bucks. They seem to have the best prices. Esp. if your gonna get rid of it soon I don't think I'd sped a lot on more OME.
Do you use this thing hard? Man I would think you'd get alot longer life out of OME for what they cost.
Don't know who really makes OME. Hope they're not changing that much for a label and yellow paint.

do you really think its the shocks? The shocks will keep the ride smooth, but if your t-bars are week, the front is still going to dive no matter how good your shocks are.

IMO, OME shocks suck. I know 3 forum members here have broken them.

I recommend KYB Gas Adjust, or Monomax. Some here like bilsteins, never tried those.

For these rigs you want a high pressure gas monotube type shock and the twin tube OME's are junk IMO no better than Monroes..

I'll second the OME diss. Throw Rancho in there too.

The KYB monomax really are made very well and work very well. Compressing them to get them in there is a trick but ...eh.

Just wondering if i was wrong about my t-bar comment? I don't want to lead anyone in the wrong direction.

Just wanted to add this about shocks. I ran Rancho 5000 on my old YJ and have the procomp 3000 on the raider. Neither have made me want to tell all my friends that they should run out and buy them. All I can say is that they work. When I do shocks again, I'm leaning to KYB but the Tokico shocks are always in the back of my mind...wondering...should I give them a try....Baker used to run them...hmmm

Going on the lines of what zark said I have tried the others on different vehices nothing special. Besides the kybs on my montero now the bilsteins I had on my blazer are fantastic. You get what you pay for on those. The cool part is one of the bilsteins stores is not to far away from me. Great service set up.
