Sorry, 95 Montero SR 3.5... I'm used to having a signature in other forums.

You can have a signature here... click on MY HOME above.
Scroll down to the Main Configuration section and click on the Edit link for Your Information and scroll down and edit your signature.

Also, no, it's not OBDII. There's a proceedure in the FSM to read the codes but if the Check Engine light is not lit, there won't be any (at least on a gen I).

Confusing.

Had a wild hare to check the plugs again (after finding the plugs loose) and the first coil I pulled out (#2 cylinder) came apart.... put it back together and stuck it in the truck.

Fired up and ran/drove perfectly again. So I must have one or more bad coils?

Even ole Bob's music isn't helping to calm me down today... which is very surprising... grrr

Three little birds. Three little birds.

Hey, at least you've likely found the problem. If nobody here has a spare coil, you can probably find them at a local salvage yard or car-part.com/msrecycling.com

Just picked up the coil I had Oreillys order for a "just in case" situation. FYI this is a factory "diamond" part and 100% identical.

I'm having the same problem with my 94SR. I'm anxious to see if the new coil solved the problem.

Sorry guys, I've tried posting multiple times with apparently bad results. Oh well here goes another.

Replacing the one bad coil pack seemed to cure my issues. Did a 600 mile trip this weekend over some very rough terrain and it did admirably well.

Is that supposed to be a picture? I assume it is and if so, the url needs to end in the file format (.jpg, .gif, .tif, etc.).

Also, it also needs to come from a website that allows direct linking to images. Many don't including facebook. Ones that do include webshots, picassa, etc.
