Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well, got the snow off and turned on the wipers....nothing! So I guess it's the famous wiper motor I have read about. Hopefully I have one (on the parts car that is covered in snow) is this an easy swap for a guy who might have to borrow tools? While I'm at it, the wiper blades never went down to the bottom of the windshield, I always thought they just needed to be adjusted down where I wanted them when it was off, but thought too, they won't make a full sweep either....was that a motor related issue, I won't think so?

Gotta say I love the old Raider, especially in the snow!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey man, i just started working on an 89, and the wipers were all messered up when i got to working on it. I went to replace the motor (super easy, i thinks its three 10mm bolts), but when i got the motor loose, and tried it out with no load, worked great. Turned out the wiper arm assembly was rusty on the pass side, so i replaced the assembly from my parts rig, and voila! The assembly replacement took a bit longer and more tools, cussing and wrench tossing. If you happen to have big hands, rent the neighbor kid. Once i got it all back together, the delay wiper cntroller was out of whack, took a minute for that to catch its groove. Now i just have to adjust those wiper arms up a couple nothces and it should be good to go. Best of luck to you on your project...

Did you go through the glove box? Hope it's the motor....may some WD-40 will help the assembly. Didn't realize the Radier was all metric. Thanks!

The 90's raider is all metric. I believe the reason is, it's built in Japan 20 years ago versus many recent japanese vehicles built in the US that are both metric and SAE. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

The montero/raider/pajero was built as either a rhd or lhd vehicle depending on the market it was sold in. The wiper motor and plate will fit eiter side, and I think you flip the armature over for the various markets. You can see the other stamps for the rhd windshield wiper arms stamped on the cowl but bnot drilled out. Anyway, there is a service place on the fire wall on the pass side, and the motor is on the drivers side. On the 3.0 V6 raider, i had to pull back the sound insulation on the firewall to expose the plate. On the older 4cyl montys there is no sound stuff, so the plates are visible. Its actually pretty easy project. Go to harbor freight/tools and invest in the metrics. I got half my stuff done with standard, went and got the right tools, and quit stripping all the darn nuts.
