If the electrical and stuff doesn't really matter to you and you just needed a platform to build off of, I think the Trooper is an excellent choice. However, if it were me (and it eventually will be) I would consider a full GM swap, or even a Ford. The parts are plentiful and the aftermarket support is alot better. Wiring harnesses, after market guages, things like that.

You will find as you start trying to locate items for your swap, that Trooper parts are sometimes hard to come by, and I don't see it getting easier. There are only a couple of vendors that even stock Trooper parts, and they ain't cheap. Finding stuff in junkyards is becoming harder too, because they crush more and more cars.
