I'm looking at helping the engine out buy ditching the engine driven fan and installing an electric one that I can turn on inside the truck.

I'm looking for something I could get out of a wrecker but would be nice to know what I'm looking for in terms of fit.

Has anyone experimented with this? I think I read somewhere [can't seem to find the link again] where a Ford Taurus double fan was used.

And...is this much of a mod?

I saw this fan from Taurus installed. It was not a good outcome, so was removed. The owner name is Jesse, try to search by jfarsang, he is very active here www.delica.ca and helpful enthusiast.

Keep us posted, please!

God love Google!

Pulled some links from the pocuk site and it seems to be a popular mod in the UK - searched "pajero electric fan" or something like that [I can post what I found if anyone is interested]. The dilemma is they use fans off vehicles commonly sold there - Rovers, Diesel Peugeot, etc, as suggestions. There is some great info on "how to" regarding the other pieces required.

Most of the feed back was very positive - 3-5 hp, warms up faster, smoother particularly at higher RPM's where the drag of a viscous would come into play, slight improvement to MPG, etc...

I found the link you suggested...waiting for a response from Jesse. Nothing in the thread initially suggests using the Taurus fan was bad...will update...

I am glad you found some info.
Will wait for a reply from Jesse to figure out what was wrong...
As an alternative, do you consider additional intercooler?
I've heard some people connect additional radiator to oil system...

Cheers,
