I smelled that burning-ozone kind of smell, and the blower quit working. Is it the switch, or a relay? The low setting on the switch did not work already.

Might be the motor as well, worn brushes perhaps:

Since the switch is probably the hardest thing to get to, I would probably check everything else (motor, resistor pack, relay) and if all that is OK, then the switch last.

If you lost low speed, then medium speed, I would agree it's likely the resistor pack, but it does not control high speed. If it's the motor, you can pick up a replacement for about $40 and switch your fan over. I think mine is a Siemens. It was simpler than trying to swap the brushes.

I pulled the one out of the wrecked truck, it works great...low speed still no go, so I'll have to check the relay.

It's already getting hot down here, so having the AC back is a huge plus, low speed or no.
