Need a Spot
1993 T100 - 4x4 - 5sp

Gotta replace Rotor and CV axle. I'm looking at the main hub bolt right now and my manual is telling me I need that Special Service Tool, which is basicall a big Socket. The manual doesn't say what size it is, so I'm wondering what size and also if there's any way around not having one of these?

Thanks guy's, keep on Truckn'

These articles may be of interest:

The latter mentions the 54mm or 2-1/8" socket. Here's one place that sells them if you can't find one locally:

I've heard of people making do with a hammer and a screwdriver in a pinch, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Body Damage is Cool
FWIW, I've made the 2 1/8 work fine (it's probably on the shelf at the nearest Sears), and I'm a terminal amateur at this stuff.

To add, you might be needing a 1/2" to 3/4" drive adapter as well.

Ive done the hammer/punch method, it doesnt work to well. Ive also used the 2 1/8 socket which works fine-but you need a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter.

Autozone I recall sells the 54mm socket, buy it there for like 20 bucks-the socket from sears is 40 dollars!

Cool! I got one from Trail-gear, the right tool for the job makes all the difference. Piece of cake once I got her. Now I'm having a hard time getting the axle out...yeah I'm replacing the axle too, busted CV boot so I figure while I'm in there.... you know how it goes, the ever present "mushroom job" Gonna start a new thread
