Wow...I guess it's true problems do come in 3s..

Problem 1 - I fixed....damn muffler finally went after 300k..put on the same one...Flowmaster

Problem 2 - When warming up, the idle jumps to 2500rpm, after it's warmed up it settles down to 800rpm.

Problem 3 - I have a small leak in the radiator. A quick check and it looks like it is coming from an area where the electric fan is mounted to the radiator. The mounts are tabs that go through the fins.

Are there reliable patch kits for aluminum I could use? What about the stuff you pour into the radiator?

For the high warmup idle, I have no clue. Any ideas on what I should look at? I thought it might be related to my missing gas cap, but I replaced it and the problem is still there.

DON'T. You'll rue the day you do. See about a solder job first, if viable.

What's your cold idle been at in the past? I see the idle check has you take it up to 2500rpm for a few, then the idle should fall to 800rpm. (Hint: the '93 FSM in the sticky here is your friend). <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

If you haven't really given the ol' steed a good tuneup in awhile, might take a looky-loo:

Just make sure you don't induce any air leaks if you decide to pry.

Hi Alfred,

Before going on the ghost hunt, I'd run down to Autozombie and "rent" a free radiator pressure tester. Once pressurized, the true source of the leak will become apparent, and you'll know enough to tell a radiator shop it needs repaired. As Margie says, don't put that junk in your radiator, please.

Happy hunting!

hmmm...the rpms dropped to normal on it's own...didn't do anything except get a gas cap and get new muffler.

for the radiator, I can see where the leak is coming from....guess I was being lazy and hoping for an on truck fix.
