Hi All,
could some one please explain in laymans terms what a set of extended front forks will do for us Sporty owners aprt from providinng lift.
Do they increase travel? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Do they prevent the fouling of the CV boots or bring the cv's into line with lift, <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> and any other relevant information would be appreciated. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />
Cheers, chris <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

The extended forks provide lift alot like the spacers but they do provide better clearance of the CV boots. I have never found a way to buy the extended forkes but have seen them on Korean web sites.

Chris,
Think of the forks like the legs on a person. An extended length fork is basically like a person with longer than normal legs. Their upper body is the same length as normal people, but they have really long legs.
It provides some lift, and at the same time improves clearance for the axle shaft so it does not hit against the top of the "U" area.
The problem is now the legs are longer (weaker) and you have to beef them up because there is a greater potential to bend them.

Does any one know how much lift the extended forks give from Korea?
Hadtomer are you able to shed any light?
cheers, Chris

Anyone know how much longer the "extended" forks are over OEM? Possibly what kind of lift they are stated to provide?

Hi all,
Had tomer is having a couple of technical glitches but was able to send me aPM.
Extended forks will give 50mm or 2 inch lift.
Now to work out how to order them and get them sent to Australia.
Cheers, Chris

question, I work with a lot of machinists and have brought them in a fork. was going to make a extended set for myself.
Is there any interest in something like this? I be happy to make a larger batch for some folks here.

HELLO!
managed to overcome the tech problem (every 2 months it says im banned for no reason). im glad to report that the forks are on their way and will be here in 2-3 weeks (here meaning ISRAEL). i will take pics- compare to standard forks and post any possible info.
AS for fabricatinbg a pair- tried to do it. no one agreed- every fabricator that i talked to, including engineers, said that the forks bear serious loads and they can not fabricate them without serious and expensive r&d work regarding tension, alloys, etc.
as written by 4runnernomore- the forks are 5cm longer than stock. As for getting them down under- the same company is ISRAEL that sells the diff locks also sells the extended forks.
I had a talk with the owners yesterday - you can send them an email (the adress is on the diff lock thread) and they will be glad to have anything shipped straight from the factoty in korea to your home- weather its down under, in the USA or wherever.
the price for extended forks over here is about 500 us dollars (not final- they havent arrived yet)- but that price is for locals and only includes shipping to ISRAEL . also - $$ exchange rate is realy low these days compared to our local currency.
Im waiting for a package from OZ myself- after a lot of searching i orderes a set of 3 inch lift coils from DOBINSON (as recommended here)- but they are taking forever to arrive- cause dobinson dont have a dealer here (eibach, king spring and TJM do, but only make 2 inch lift coils). a friend of mine is bringing them when he comes back from a long trip doun under. (how i miss australia- been there when i was younger. amazing country, wish i will have another chance to go to eyers rock, sidney and the outback).

Welcome back Hadtomer,
I sent an email off last night. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Can you let us know what you are hoping to achieve with the extended forks and the 3 inch springs?
By my calculations you will still be 2 inches to low in the rear. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Cheers, Chris <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
