Looking to fit some new treads on a set of alloy pomegranate rims (6" x 15") for an 88 Montero. I'd like to go with 31" BFGs provided there are no issues with fitment and safety (city driving). Anyone run these or know if they will do the job? http://www.4wheelparts.com/Tires/31x10-5...p;t_pn=BFG03119 4wheelparts

Welcome to your first 4x4wire post. There will be no problems with 31" tires on pomegranate rims, very common combination. Here is Spence's old rig with 31" all-terrains (looks like Dean brand to me) and pomegranate rims:

Michelin makes a great city driving tire that lasts a long time, but they cost a premium up front. The BFG's wear well for what they are, and if you're never leaving the pavement, you're just going for looks. Here are a few choices in 31x10.5-15: Tire Rack Prices are pretty good too, depending on your shipping location relative to one of their warehouses. There's a chain here in AZ/Southwest that mounts/balances/rotates/rebalances-as-necessary for something like $18/tire for carry-in tires. John B.

Amazing - Thanks so much for the help! Still considering staying with the stock size but the 31s look niceà will this change hurt the gas mileage? I'm already getting a pretty sad 12mpg.
