Getting the Wheeling Fever

I know this is an age-old topic, which gets rekindled every now and then, but here goes...
Has anyone considered an SR20DET conversion or something similar?
Apparently, the SR20's are quite similar (as in displacement being 2.0L, square bore 86mm x 86mm, etc)
I have read that SR20 pistons can be used to make the FE a stroker, but I am curious as to whether or not a full engine swap could be done? Or has anyone attempted something like this before?

Hardware-wise I think that with an machined adaptor plate for the bellhousing you can fit anything you like ( almost )
The thing is that 10 years now that I have the sporty ONE single report FROM sb that haw actualy done something like that
All yo ucan find is "somebody told me that..." I "have seen a car that..."
Even the actual FE engine there are doubths that actualy fit "as is" ( ofcourse the components and 80% of the design for sure is the same)
So doun the line, is who has the money in the first place, then the time and "courage" to try..
Bellhousing and engine managment are the main problems in short

Naturally, as with any engine swap from different manufacturers, there would be quite an amount of work to be done.
I purely thought of SR20 as it is a similar size as the Kia engine, but has a plethora of aftermarket spares available.
I am only at the research stage at this point, and I thought I would throw the idea out to some other Kia owners and get some feedback.
I have looked through this forum and see that the FE has quite a few good things going for it. It would be more worthwhile to just modify the existing powerplant. But lack of Mazda piston engine "experts" in Brisbane is quite a hurdle. They all seem to be obsessed with rotaries!

Hi Shorty Sporty,
There is acompany in Wollongong that is supposd to specialise in the Sporty engine. ADSKIA had his motor rebuilt to be a 2.7 litre torque monster.
Contact ARB in Newcastle and ask to speak to Adam in the workshop. He will be able to point you inthe right direction.
Cheers, Chris

Thanks Chris, I will make some enquiries.
If I do end up pursuing the SR20 path, I will do a full write up for everyone.
Cheers, Simon
