My 22re is a little noisy and the o.p. is a little low. I was thinking about going with a thicker oil or maybe a straight weight oil. Any problems with this? Which would be the best to help with my probs?
Thanks to all in advance!!!!!

I find a 15W40 oil works well in my '85/22RE. Have also used a 20W50, but the 15W40 seems to work as well. Plus I use the same stuff in my VW diesel.
My engine is not so much noisy as I find with a thinner oil I find the hot idle oil pressure falls down to the bottom of the factory gauge if I run anything lighter than 40 in it, like a 10W30.

So the 20w50 wouldnt hurt anything? That seems like it would help boost the o.p. a little and may reduce the chatter i'm hearing. Im also going back to using the toyota brand filters with the anti-drainback valve. Ive used others with anti drainback valves but they dont seem to work as well as the stock toyota ones.

FYI, this is the specs for oil pressure from the FSM. Not a lot of O.P. at idle. ![[Linked Image]](http://pics.montypics.com/oops/2011-06-01/1306970643_fsm_oil_pressure.jpg)

'91 22RE; I was using 5w-40...seemed OK. Last summer I tried M1 15W-50: It actually made the valve clacking louder, cold and hot. Went back to 5W-40....quieter now.
