More questions from meee.
Anyways, just wondering about the electric choke on the weber carb...where exactly do you hook it up?

I hooked mine into the the plug where the original carb plugged in. I just found the hot wire and used that. Actually I cut the plug off of the old carb and attached it to the choke wire so that it would make a cleaner look.

What he said...but be sure to use a test meter to connect the wires to the right female ends in the stock plug. From what I remember, all you need is one that's hot when you turn the key...

The SWB I just got has a manual choke cable on it! What is the difference, like $20 between a manual and the electric choke? Why would anyone even bother? Worst part was before I bought it I threw away a couple of locked up progressives that I could of grabbed up the electric chokes from. Oh well.

you shouldn't be tuning the carb when it's cold, so the choke shouldn't be the issue. I just rebuilt my carter and it made a big difference with the idle. It was complete crap before. Is your carb used? If so, spend the $20 on the gasket kit and replace them and the O rings. then, while everything is out, I ran a fair amount of carb cleaner through all the passages. put it all back together (twice because i put the floats on upside down) Then adjust the throttle positioning screw until the screw touches, then turn in 1 1\2 times, no more. Adjust the idle mixture screw so it barely bottoms out, then back it off 1 full turn. adjust in 1\4 turn incriments until you get it where you want. I'm running around 600rpm in gear and 850ish in N. For the electric choke, you have to preload the spring by turning the choke one way or the other, then lock it down with the hold down ring. There is a fast idle screw that just holds the throttle position a little higher than the regular screw, that one i tuned it until it was around 1500rpm(i think). hope this helps.

you shouldn't be tuning the carb when it's cold, so the choke shouldn't be the issue. It will be an issue if it's set too rich to shut off completely after the engine warms up.
