Hi everyone it's been awhile.. Just been busy .. but now its summer and very hot here in Southern Idaho and i have a leak in my Radiator on the top about two inch's down from the Rad Cap.. Looks like my dad had it patched before when he owned it. but he does not remember all what he might have done to it. so i thought about having the whole thing record just gone through well everywhere i called today gave me quotes of between 400 to 600 dollars do to cost of copper and how they have to buy it to do job's like that.. So that's out. all places said they could try to re patch it if it could be done.. So called junk yards around me and one close has a 97 and 2000 montero 97 has 3.0 in it 2000 don't know yet. I bet there Montero Sports, the guy on the phone was not sure .. 40 dollars for any of them so question is, Does anyone know if any of them will work? other wise its patch it or buy a new one for 200 to 295 plastic and aluminum one... Everyone is telling me they do a better job at cooling and they have been having good luck with them all the shop's are saying this so who knows. Anyways, any info and ideas would be great and thank you all. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

Have it rodded out and repaired. Probably around $100-150. Probably doesn't need a new core.

Hey if i can get any of the shops to do that.. They want to sell me a new one it seems rather than do any work on it. Plus after talking to my dad he seemed to remember having that done already about a year and half go.. just do it again ?

tried to take it back . . guy said he does not remember it and does not warranty his work that long. So won't be taking it there thats for sure. But the question still stands does a radiator from a 3.0 work with a 3.5 ?

I would probably say no. Bigger engine should probably require better cooling. I would just take the old one to get repaired.

Also, most places will not cover work after its been transferred between owners. I am not really shocked he turned you away when he found that a previous owner took it there and you were asking about warrantying work you didn't pay for.

No, I pulled a 3.0 radiator in a JY because it measured the same across the top. When I got it home and pulled the 3.5 out, the 3.0 was about 2 - 3 inches shorter
