Hey guys, I could really use some advice on my 95 Montero SR. The fuel pump doesn't run when I turn on the ignition, but it works using the test connecter under the hood. I've checked the fusible link, the ecu/fuel pump relay and replaced the ECU, however the fuel pump still won't run. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for me? What am I forgetting to check?

Well, to my simple mind it sounds like a wiring issue at this point. I can't speak to the '95, but looking at the No Start Tests document for the '89 I would look at:

1) the wiring from the ECU to the control relay
2) The B+ "start" and "run" wiring connections to the control relay
3) wire from the control relay to the fuel pump itself. Actually this one could probably be checked for continuity from the control relay to the pump check terminal.

That document has some very straight-forward flow charts for diagnosing fuel pump operation. While it's for the '89, I suspect the majority of the tests will apply to your situation as well.

Problems with the 95's seem to come in multiples these days. You might look into the actual ignition switch itself as well.

I checked the ignition switch and it seemed to be working correctly. I'm wondering if I checked the wrong fusible links though (the writing on the covers is worn away, so I just checked every one I could find). My manual says there's three locations under the hood for fusible links, and I only found the ones on the + battery terminal and in the fuse box. Anyone know where the third location is? My manual says its somewhere near the battery, but doesn't say exactly where.
