1990 4wd short bed truck.
It only has just over 100k on it, so I'm having a guess its the gauge in the tank.
Any tips for freeing it up without dropping the tank?

Thanks!

It's happened to my truck twice, both since the original sender got replaced with a new factory part.

The pin (middle one?) will read exactly 100ohms, or the signal for empty. One time I dropped the tank completely, one time I just loosened one half and used a jack to lower the other side down enough to get my hand in there to unscrew it and wiggle it around.

When it happens again? I'll just drop the tank. It's a good chance to clean the junk off the top to avoid rust.

Interesting. This is my brothers truck, so I haven't seen it first hand.
He said it was reading 1/2 tank and not moving.
Wondering if the float is stuck?
I guess one way to find out is to fill it up and have him hit some speed bumps - at speed.
Maybe that will jar it loose <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the insight.
