 YJ Tailgate Question

I have an '89 YJ tub on an 88 frame. I bought was was advertised as a YJ tailgate. It has the latch in the tailgate, but came without the striker mechanism. Since the latch in in the tailgate, the striker would have to be in the bed of the tub. Yet when I look at striker mechanisms on EBAY, it is obvious that the striker is part of the door.
Are there two versions?

Is your tailgate hinged on the side or on the bottom?
1977 CJ-7, fiberglass body, AMC 360 w/ headers, DUI ignition, Edelbrock intake and Holley 4150 carb, TF999, Dana 300, 4.56 gears lockers, York air comp, 4" susp lift, 2" body lift, BFG 35" M-T tires, Megashifter, AGR pump & box, REP8000 winch.

87-95 YJ tailgates are all the same. Note, the TJ tailgates are the same physical size with same hardware but hinges are in different spots.
The striker should be about a 3/4" dia. round piece bolted into the side of the tub. The latch is in the tailgate.
If you need the latch assembly, let me know as I have a couple of tailgates kicking around.
I don't have a spare striker...

87-95 YJ tailgates are all the same. I'm aware of that. I asked about the hinges to see if perhaps he had bought a CJ tailgate by mistake.

The striker bolts to a bracket that bolts to the left rear opening of the tub. The striker is the same one that is used on the doors, if I remember correctly. The bracket that mounts it is different.

Thank you all for responding. My tailgate hinges on the side.
Evidently there are a lot of people on ebay selling strikers that are not for a YJ but they say that they are. Some of them even have pictures of the striker mounted on the door.
