my runner is idling high i think because of an issue with the engine coolant temp sensor. does this sound right? if so, for some reason, i can't find the proceedure for testing it and such for the 3vze. also i think one of the hoses that goes to the rear of the engine is cracked. don"t know if the two are related, but just thought i would post up and see if anyone else has had this problem. i'm gonna pull the hood off and see if i can locate the hose where the steam is coming out.

[Linked Image] my dad was borrowing my runner and freaked out saying it had a blown head gasket and such, but after doing a little diagnostic investigation, it's just a severely cracked hose and must be one of those sensors next to that nipple is the coolant temperature sensor possibly malfunctioning? possibly not getting any coolant to the sensor to measure?

just as i expected, replacing the hose corrected the high idle issue. but now water running out from somewhere in the front of the engine! and apparently there is a f'ed up sound coming from that area as well [color:"red"]should i put some dye in the cooling system to find out exactly where the leak is coming from? [/color] naturally i'm thinking water pump. but i don't get what the hell is going on. all of a sudden this thing is breaking down when i had it and maintained it it was fine. my jackass dad must be treating it like crap. that's the only thing i can think of. a busted heater hose, a dead (new) battery and now the water pump too, all at the same time!? wtf over!? i swear he is bad luck. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
There is a hose from the water pump, to the engine oil cooler. It'll look to be at the front of the engine, drivers side.
I hope this helps....
