Anyone know if the original oxy sensor wire on the 85-86 truck was cloth covered?The one in my truck is at present and am curious if this could be a very old sensor.

I own a '94 and I noticed something similar on both of my 02 sensors. I think what your seeing is a form of heat shielding that is needed for the wires leading from the sensor. Because of their close proximity to the exhaust this is needed. As far as dating the sensor based on this, I don't think that is possible.
