Getting the Wheeling Fever
Ok guys I tired doing a search first but there was error, I decided to post a new topic. My rubber looks good and my felt does as well, however my wing widows whistle going 35-mph and up. Whenever I push in on the lock the noise stops or is at least livable, is there any remedies to sooth the roaring wind lol? Anyone ever replace the lock and if so it is hard to do?

caulking gun or epoxy to seal the windows work, although that makes the windows permanently shut... I do believe you can buy replacement rubber still. I would check auto glass places.

I have fixed it several ways. One, I took the handle out of the lock and jbwelded the hole shut, then drilled it back out to the right diameter and reinstalled the handle. Two, I just took out some lock handle/latch plate slop with an assortment of shims in various places, all obvious. Third, and perhaps easiest, self stick door weatherstrip, the flat sided rubber tube stuff, in your choice of white or tan and maybe black, Home Depot has it by the roll. Miter cut the corners for a good seal there.

They sell a security lock device that you tighten with a round knob to prevent theft.
This will also quiet the noise.
Sorry, but I can't recall where I purchased them.

Obviously, the slop comes from wear on the latch. I shimmed it to tighten. Cut several at one time (about 5mm thick) from the end of a 2x2.

Sort of a pain to open the window for a cigarette, but other than that, it works fine.

87 Montero, bought new, by me -

Use a penny between the latch and the window frame. Open the window, penny drops to floor, find another penny to use when you re-close the window.

I use to use cardboard. I've given up cause my weatherstriping is so old, the wind just rips right it at highway speeds. I like cardboard cause it's free compared to a penny. That's alot of money now!

my passeger side screams when locked. The drivers side rubber that my dog chewed up works like new. I'm gonna put peanut butter on passenger side so he chews that one to quite it down
