Hello

So tonight i finally got around to hooking up a vacuum pump to my secondary and realized the the diaphragm is shot and it does not hold vacuum.. when i open the throttle and apply vacuum to the secondary it kinda limply opens the secondary but under engine vacuum i dont know if it could actually open the butterfly.

Question A

When I change this out should I expect a bit more power? (please say yes)

Question B

If i am careful can i change this well the carb is on the truck or does the carb need to come off?

Thanks

Mike

Just so you know: There is a shaft interlock that prevents the secondary from opening until the primary has opened.

The way I usually test the secondary is unhook it from the throttle and fully compress it. Once compressed place your finger over its port. Release pressure on the rod. If it you have a leak it will end up in its initial position.

And yes, having the secondary working makes a big difference.

hey thanks, i did stumble across that and that apears to be the only one i stumbled across.

I actually found my old carb from my 2wd mm and its actuator still worked.

I swaped them out and the truck does seem a little more spunky, but still pretty gutless.

I blame the auto trans for making things unfun.

Funny how the same engine in a 2wd, lighter, smaller tires and that truck just moves like the dickens!

I sold the engine from my wrecked silver 87 stick Montero to an acquaintance with an automatic Raider. Same spritely engine was a turd with the auto.

Put a turbo on the engine in front of it...
