...is angled forward of the shocks and under the front skid plate instead of being angled backwards of the engine bay as in the 3rd Gens. I thought this was interesting when I looked over the 2003 today. Didn't test drive, didn't care to. The salesmen looked at me like I was psycho when I got down on my knees in the showroom to look under the truck. I guess they're not used to people being interested in what's on the underside.

The same thing happened to me. There is a Toyota dealer about 5 minutes from my house and I stopped in late one night when I saw one on their lot.
I got out and the first thing I did was check out the underside. The sales lady came over and asked why I was doing that and said she has never seen anyone look underneath a truck before.
It is like that is how you can tell how much the engineering has improved, I mean like plastic is plastic on the rest of the truck, right??

Especially that front bumper. I don't think they liked that very much .

I hate the salespeople at the stealers. They never know what they're talking about. The guy that sold my 4runner was trying to say how fender flares are only for looks... how the tiny chrome ones on the SR5 are for young people and the large ones on the limited are for older people. I wanted to kick his ass right there for being a retard.

But, ummm I'm sure a salesmen could never imagine an owner spenting mucho time on a creeper rolling around underneath their 4Runner with a light just looking at how's it's built.. or an owner buying $300.00 worth of factory manuals to understand even more about how it's built..
Makes me wonder if at some point in our "evolution" will the lights go out, and there won't be anyone around who knew how the hell they worked in the first place..
I guess folks on this forum are a true minority in wanting to understand things.. [ October 26, 2002, 09:29 PM: Message edited by: Dandeman ]
