Put a volt meter across the connector at the pump to see if your getting power when the motor is cranked.

Need a Spot
Well guys I picked up a 19mm and 14mm flare nut wrench and I checked connections at the pump terminal and voltage was good.

Weird thing is is that the pump doesnt start till the kill is turned all the way over for ignition. Is this normal for a 91 montero v6?

I finally broke the fitting loose that sits above the rear axle. Took out the pump and turned the engine over... nothing. Bought a new fuel pump at the local auto parts store. Installed it and tested. The motor on the pump spins! AWESOME! Buttoned everything back up and its up and running again. Ran it all around town today and it runs great.

I replaced the fuel pump relay just for good measure so I can rule that out on future failures, if any.

Only concern I have is the amount that I twisted the 90 degree metal tube that comes off the pump assembly flange. It seems like it would restrict fuel flow but it starts and runs just fine. Any insight?

I really appreciate everyone's support on the issue.

Helped me a lot.

Hopefully I can quit spending money on keeping it running and start spending it on the OME suspension setup that I have my eye on.

Good for you to get the truck going

See what I was saying on the flare wrench ..

On the twisted metal line ... It should be fine .. I would fill the gas tank to the brim and make sure the metal line that goes through the metal plate that bolts to the tank is OK and not leaking...

You most mean 'key' and not 'kill' .. Yes its as it should be .. The key circuit runs the pump as you turn the key to the "start position" .. And once the motor starts running the pump is run my the motor ele ...(more to it just a fast answer..)
