I can't believe I have had the Montero a year and a half and it's taken me this long to mod something on it. It even still has the factory infinity sound system which I'm more than satisfied with.

Since I did the whole engine service back in July, I haven't driven the montero but 1600 miles now that I have the Hyundai for an Airport commuter and the few days I am actually in the office. The Isuzu parked next to it is my trail beater/weekend warrior ride during the day and I will either take the Montero or Hyundai in the evenings.

I just replaced the clogged catalytic converter and seals on the exhaust so it sounds nice a new new again. Since I didn't need the OEM parts like I thought I did I cancelled the order and rewarded the montero with the JDM corners brand new off ebay!

Kind of sad I have only driven the montero a total of 13,000 miles in the last year and half but I enjoy it every time I drive it.

Nice, subtle, mod, sir. Kudos.

Ain't nothin' wrong with a well-maintained machine. I suspect most mods actually begin as repairs, so consider yourself lucky!

Hmmm.

Sort of makes it look like Ming the Merciless instead of Tojo Yamamoto (the wrestler, not the admiral).

I wonder if the astrovan can outwheel the monty like it did the pickup

Thanks! I always thought the original lights didn't look right on it, so this was the first thing I wanted to do. I'm on the fence about installing the lift springs and AISIN hubs I have for it.... I know as soon as she goes up, she'll want new shoes, and with new shoes comes taller gears.. all that requires a better bank account. Doing the same mods to two vehicles at once kind of hurts.

I don't know about that.. I just installed my front aussie locker in my spare axle housing for the truck with 4.77s to upgrade from the 4.56s and open diffs I had last time... I think the truck wants a rematch between you and that posi rear of yours.

I don't think you'd outwheel the montero...

Looks great! I love the clear corners... Did you mod the harness for the ditch lights as well (the ones that stay on the corners as long as the indicator is on - Cadillac style!) ?

Love those genII.5 headlights. They fit the genII's too - hmmm...

No, I haven't figured out how to do that yet... I have Scott's write up somewhere but haven't dug it out yet.. I'm just using the top half for running light/blinker right now.

That's was one of my first mods too. I figured out the wiring, I'll to take it off and see how I did it. Been awhile, it's been 10 years since that mod haha

Looking good. I am jealous of your stock well maintained Montero tho

I would have thought the 1st mod was getting it out of the garage. Looks good, whats next?

Where did you get the non OEM exhaust seals?

I need to replace one or two that rusted out under mine. Now the smoke from my blown head gasket is going out under the truck instead of out the back!

There's only a couple of gaskets.. I installed an aftermarket direct fit catalytic converter and it came with the round O-Ring seal in front of the Cat that you can't get seperatly at the dealership or anywhere else as well as the one behind it.

Since the catalytic converter was only $99 on Rockauto.com it was a no-brainer to replace that too since it came with the impossible to find seals.

I can probably give you the name of the company that supplied the catalytic converter if you want -- I'm sure they can part with some seals.
