There's a real possibility the roomdawg will be relocating to take care of her Mum up in BC. Pointing towards Silverdale near Bangor Naval Base.
Since we don't have the usual infrastructure of big city here, what are the following:
water/sewer service garbage/recycling sales tax (namely Kitsap County) carpool options
She's a native Seattlite, but grew up in the Mountview Terrace area/Lynwood.
Also anyone using a Tracfone? Given Mum lives over the Boundary we're unsure if that's a viable option for comm down there.
THANKS; gonna be a zoo soon around here.

It's been a long time since I've seen any posts by Darin, but my recollection is that he's in the Silverdale-Port Orchard-Bremerton area.
It's civilized there so yeah, they will have things like indoor plumbing , water/sewer service and your trash will be picked up.
WA has no income tax so they get their money from you via alternate means. The state gets most of its tax revenue from retail sales taxes. With state & county together I think the combined rate in much of the state is in the 8.0 to 8.5% ballpark. No other state has a higher tax on gasoline than WA, and vehicle registration fees are kind of high. Gotta pay for roads somehow, but if she's looking to carpool she might not get hit too hard by these.

Thanks Scott.
We're reasonably civilized, just don't have the infrastructure of a high density area with living 40 miles out of 'town'. Last water bill I ever had was when I was stationed in Florida; left there in 1991.
I see there's some kind of bus lines up the peninsula there. We were just wondering this AM over brunch whether or not the Narrows Bridge was tolled these days.
I remember reading in the SeaTimes about tags going up, but I think it's the utility deposits that have us wondering how much cash up front she's going to need to get into a place to live before the first paycheck hits the bank.
I have an account with AHRN.com, so that's being perused for a place to live; just need to recon the bad neighborhoods or crap landlords.
Yeah, I still should have an email for Darin; seems to me he was in Port Orchard. I should ping him. Thanks for the reminder.
We're thinking the CRV will be on the transport within the next 3 weeks.

Margie, have you googled "Bremerton"? Lots of info there. Navy town with the shipyard, which may bother AF folks some - not even Naval Aviation.

Oh yeah. I think she already found the quilt shop.
Trying to keep the commute under 20 miles; doing 16 right now. The CRV won't get the mileage her little Corolla gets, but at 367K, I get to mothball it for trips North.
Bangor was my uncle's last duty station; a 30 yr submariner. The Naval Warfare Center is directly east of that on the othe side of the peninsula. The job she's going into supports all 3 plus Whidbey NAS; my uncle's 'summer' home is in Oak Harbor.
