I'm running 30X10.5 on 15 inch Toyoto 4runner chrome rims. It's about time for new tread and wondered if anybody is running 33X10.5's?? Send me some photos!! I can't go any wider on these rims but I can go taller! It looks like I got plenty of room to do this - Any pros or cons in doing this?? ![[Linked Image]](http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii295/barryj01/89v6003.jpg)

This is an often covered topic. I have run 32x11.5 tires on stock rims with ant real issues. With the Toy rims, you're backspacing is likely only 3.75" instead of the Mitsu 4" BS, so you have a wider track and less interference with the frame in the rear. There are some examples of 34" Swampers on stock rims, lots of 33x10.5s and I have a Swamper 33x12.5 mounted on a stock rim as a spare. You won't have any problems with the 33s except some trimming of the front bumper ends and pushing out a little bit of the inner wheel well leading edge sheetmetal. Have look at this thread for images and text: Wire Thread - Biggest tires on stock rims Russell

Russell, Thanks for the info and photos! I think I want to go with 34's. I would like to go to 11.5, but the shop "Big O Tires" in Reno said they will not mount anything wider than 10.5 on my rims.
You know any shops or chains that will?
Also - you following my "frame noise - bushings?" KABAM! thread? When I have the tires mounted what should I have them also check?

I really enjoyed knowing Chris, the owner of the Big-O in El Dorado Hills, for one of several reasons...he and his crew had no issues mounting various tire/rim combos for me. Try some other tire shops: Allen's Tire Yahoo search for Reno tire shops I would definitely call around. A mom & pop may be your friend. Regarding things to check...normal stuff like ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arm, control arm bushings, etc. Whatever tires you choose, front end alignment is good insurance for a street driven vehicle.

Check out Mr. Hubcap on Glendale and the freeway- they're reasonably priced and pretty nice folks, and don't have corporate bobble heads telling them what they can and can't mount. No other tire shop in town would mount some de-studded winter tires that were one size too big on my car last year. Not only did they do it, but they charged less. Walmart told me that the tires would leak air because I pulled the studs out LOL. Idiots.

I had to take my rims in with the tires to get mounted, and I said I was putting it on a trail only rig. . I bought my 15x10.5x33 BFG from Tire Rack. Saved me a bundle on the 5 tires. Coming home to find those tires in the driveway a blast

Love 33x1050s and have run them on 3 out of my last four rigs. Bear in mind though, that even though they are lighter than the standard 33x1250, they're still a big diameter increase from 30s. This will affect braking and especially gearing. If you have an auto this will have a bigger effect on the road, since the shift points will be affected by the change in rpm. If a 5 speed, be prepared to slip that clutch a little more on start up, and you'll be dropping out of 5th sooner on hills, obviously. 4 Low gets used a lot more offroad, and crawling slowly (not that you can really do that now) becomes even more difficult.
These are all trade offs, and for my money they're worth it for the extra clearance, but definitely something to keep in mind.

Thanks for the info guys -
I really only want bigger tires for the looks and the clearence as this rig doesn't get off pavement except once and awhile I need to travel some fire/logging road.
We (usually) get a tremendous amount of snow up here at 6500ft elevation in Squaw Valley CA and that the biggest workout my rig gets......
The 30X10.50 Wild Country TXR's have been great and not noisy at all...guess I'll stick with them...at a bigger size!

I think I want to go with 34's.
Here is a good thread about running 34s, both wide and skinny. http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showf...;amp;page=0&fpart=1&vc=1I don't know if they offer the Wild Country TXR in a 34", I googled a little and found they offer a 33x9.5, 33x12.5, and a 35x12.5 but that is all I found in that size range. You would probably have to go with Swampers if you are looking at the 34" tire size, especially if your looking for 10.5" width or less.
