Can I put the OEM Mitsu rear differential oil [3775610] with friction modifier in the transfer case?
The 4 liter can is written in Japanese. Weekend project! Hoping to finish tomorrow. Thanks....

IIRC the friction modifier thickens the oil. Not sure what the resultant affect would be on the xcase operation and longevity though.

LSD friction modifiers make the lock up plates more sliperry to keep the lsd from chattering in normal driving. I am not sure what they will do in a tcase, but many are not yellow metal compatible. I'd pass on using in a gearbox.

Quick follow up! Called the stealer. Recommended Mits gearlube: A991ZC2X01
On a side note. The stealer wanted $67.00 for the rear diff oil for 4 liters 3775610 $67.00

I have used Redline gear lube in rear diffs with LSD's with better results than the factory lube.

The price for Mitsubishi's differential oil is quite competitive as far as top quality differential oils go. What would you need a friction modifier in a transfer case for? And why would you need a Hypoid oil in the transfer as well? A top level oil you might consider in a transfer case would be Red Line lightweight Shock proof.
