The Deer Valley Trail located between Highway 4 and Highway 88 in the Alpine û Eldorado area of California is closed.

The Highway 88 portion of the Deer Valley Trail, which is in the Eldorado National Forest, is closed; but, the Highway 4 side, which is in the Stanislaus National Forest, is open.

The Eldorado NF side is closed by court order while the Forest Service does a supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on the Deer Valley Trail and 40 other trails in the Eldorado NF, including Barrett lake Trail. It is estimated that the Forest Service will take about a year complete the NEPA study with public meetings, draft proposals and a Final EIS with appeal process.

Body Damage is Cool
I pulled my head from the sand and I found these news... awful. Pretty much all great trails along highway 88 are closed - Pardoe, Deer Valley, Strawberry. You cannot even go camping to the Mud Lake, as far as I understand. The forest is pretty much closed.

For the latest about any conditions affecting the forests, check their websites.

Eldorado conditions are available at: http://www.fs.usda.gov/eldorado

While there are fire restrictions in effect, there are no fire closures affecting the Rubicon.
