Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well I finally have gotten to the point I've got to let the Sportage go. To many other projects, none of which I'm getting done.

If'n anyone is looking for a running parts vehicle (Goat, you need a spare?), or a project, this is a good one. My kid drives it daily around town, but it needs quite a bit of mechanical work.

**EDIT** Well I decided to keep the dang thing. Winter is coming, I'll need the 4WD, so I threw a new radiator into it ($52 close out at rockauto.com, whee ) and am ordering a valve cover gasket and mirror for it. This probably ensures the timing belt will fail in 20 minutes.

Body Damage is Cool
Change the timing belt when you change the valve cover gasket.

grats! The OE belt on mine broke at 99k. They are Non interference engines but it's not a 100% gaurantee you don't hit the valves. Chances are pretty much nill. I Didn't replace the Water pump and it's at 160k now and still running strong. I would suggest a new tstat though while your at the belt. the tstat is infront of the timing cover so might as well.

Yep, I'm gonna do the timing belt as well, hence my comment about it failing.

Did the Tstat when I replaced the radiator. These were all the things I needed to do that I was selling the vehicle to avoid having to do. Trouble was, anyone that was interested in purchase, I'd give 'em the entire list (didn't want to sell it without be honest with the purchaser) and so it wouldn't sell.

Yeah, you and I actually entered into a conversation concerning where you 4-wheel at in VA. Being in a rural county, most of my off road activity is local, though there is a good bit up in Rockfish Gap. I haven't had much luck in finding others to off road with, most are into "mudbogging" in this area.
