Can anyone recommend a good source for a 2"-3" body lift for a Gen 1 Monty? I'd like to get at least a 2" body lift, something that doesn't require anything other than maybe an extension for the fuel filler hose. Mine's an '89, 2.6 engine, 5-speed, SWB.
Thanks

I would talked to performance accessories and get 10x spacers of whatever height you are wanting then go to your hardware store for the bolts. There is a great how to thread on here.

4crawler.com makes body lift kits w/ hardware and spacers for Monteros & Raiders.
Also, it's listed as a source in the FAQ post at the top of the forum. May be worth reading through.

Thanks for the reference to the FAQ section. I read thru the one how-to with the 2" lift on the red 2-door. Looks fairly labor intensive, I'll have to mull it over, and see if I want to pull the trigger or not. And what's up with WHITE lift blocks?! I would've thought the default color surely would've been black?! Good read though, because I didn't think about how lifting the truck would impact things like the radiator and heater hoses, and fuel and brake lines.

Examine why you've considered a body lift, too.
Bigger tires? I fit 33's no sweat stock. Brian has 34" Swamper Boggers on his Gen I 4-door with no lift.

Not for bigger tires, the 31's (265's) I have now are fine. I was just looking for a little more room in the fenderwells. But since you brought it up, the money I'd spend on a getting a lift kit installed might be better spent on getting a new valve cover gasket put in, along with a new front seal, water pump, timing chain(?), etc. The engine is kind of sludgy, so it's probably due for some gasket replacement. The lift kit would be a "nice to have", getting the sludgy mess cleaned up would be more of a "must have".

His model would need ten blocks.
