I took off the intake plenum to replace a bad fuel injector and I'm in the process of ordering parts. The intake plenum has double metal gaskets at the upper and lower seams. How do I know if the old gaskets are bad? They are metal, and have a thin black plastic coating that has flaked off in various spots, some stuck to the manifold which I scraped off. Can I reuse them if the black stuff is missing in some spots? Thank you for any help!

I already bought new plenum gaskets. Even though originals were metal, thought it best to put new ones in.
