I don't know how hot the ECU gets. But I see no reason why you couldn't mount it in a box with a breather. It is mounted under the carpet on the floor board. So Kia obviously didn't have issues with heat-related failures due to lack of air circulation. I suppose the floor panel, being metal, could act as a heat-sink to pull heat away from the electronics. But you could get the same effect by using a sealed metal box. The big hurdle to jump is waterproofing the harness entry. And you won't be able to relocate the box without extending the harness - no easy job, by any means. If you were to put it in a sealed box and manage to seal the harness entry point, I'd recommend a breather, as you mentioned, possibly with a small fan to circulate air. I'd be interested in seeing how you did it, if give it a go... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Remember what "waterproof" means: "water can get in...it just can't get out..."

Hi guys and girls!

Ecu waterproof box has been glued and set... what i did is cut a rubber piece glued it over the entrance hole for the harness and birthed the harness thru it so it sealed around the harness not air tight but enough to give me a platform for the glue...now just glue outside and inside around the entrance to waterproof! ill keep you posted...I also found an extension harness from a aus company so if you are interested ill post up details its expensive but saves you trying to waterproof like i am! have a great weekend smile

Thank you for your call this morning regarding H008.

The cost for H008 is $584.00 + freight, GST included.

We would like to know why you need H008. It can only be used as an extension of ECU without our equipment connected in the system. It could be a waste of your money.

We use our harness serial-connecting our equipment into the ECU system to capture signals. Please refer to the attached file which indicates how our system works.

Please let me know if you still reckon that H008 can be a help to you or you have any queries .

Kind regards,

Ke

Hi Chris:

180x60x50 for the adaptor box.

The loom is 700mm in length.

The loom cannot be too long as outside noise might affect the signal via cables.
