Need a Spot
I have a 2001 Montero limited that codes p0432 which indicates the primary cats are not working. There aren't any other 02 codes so its seems the sensors are OK.

Has anyone replaced this part and where did you get it? Rock auto has the cats in the y pipe for $277 while the mitsu places on line are around $600. I'd like to hear if anyone has used the cheaper parts and what their experience was. Thanks!

Alan, do a google search on fixing P0432. I seem to remember a fix with a spark plug saver that moved the O2 sensor out some and fixed the problem. P0432 is triggered (iirc) by a voltage difference greater than allowed between the two O2 sensors in that exhaust stream...

+1 on the spark plug spacers. This is a link with some info. You can certainly get them cheaper from Advance auto etc.

If your cat is blocked you may want to convert it to off-road use only. If the spacers do not work this is another option:
