I swapped my v6 petrol for a 4d56 in my pajero and ever since I have had overheating issues.
all parts are new. everythign has been replaced I have bled the system twice now. still gets hot. or hot to me anyways,
here is a run down of temps vs speed
below 60 - all good, hovers at 80-88 60-90 - starts getting warm 88-95 90-100 - sits at 110c but is edgy, if there is a hill you will have to back it down anythign over 110 she climbs above 110 and I back out of it.
any thoughts on why I am having such an issue?
before changing the rad for a new replacement all temperatures were actually lower by about 15c, so I dont have a clue why its running hotter with a new 3 core copper rad.
I am going to let it cool down and then take the thermostat out and go for another run and see if that makes a difference.

yes same fan and shroud.
it was able to keep it self decently cool without the shroud before I added it.

The temp on my diesel climbs if I push it hard at high speed. 60mph and under it is fine. It will do 70mph for short bursts, but I don't like running it there for long.

pulled out the thermostat, boiled it in water, opens fine. took it for a spin with the thermostat out. stays cooler at idle, seems to hold at 108c doing 100.
got a new rad cap and thermostat. going to have another go at this

installed new rad cap, no difference.
it sits at 70c at idle which was normal for no thermostat.
anyone have a write up on bleeding these engines?

Did you intercool it? If so, top mount? Did you use all the factory pieces, IC fan etc? What about boost gauge? EGT gauge? If so, what are the readings?
What procedure did you use to get the air out of the water jacket?

most of the time to bleed i just turn heater on and remove radiator cap and let the engine run till coolant starts flowing/burping air out that method always works good for me.
Make sure jiggle valve is at 12 o'clock on the thermostat that way air can get by. What color is the coolant? I'd suck if you had a blown headgasket i remember you had the job done not to long ago.

Yeah, that's how I do it as well Patrick. Also, I park on an incline with the rad opening at the highest point... theory being that the air rises to the highest point...

basically everything is new, less than 10000kms old. most even less.
the thermostat i got does not have the juggle pin, and is an 82c one. so hot already.
I have ordered a 71c one and will drill a 1/16th hole in it to sort out the bleeding issue. as of right now I am doing it on a slight incline. not to steep. and letting it get to temp without the cap on. a few bubles here and there. not much, but the upper rad hose continously has issues filling with water. so I am thinking that is my issue. I will park it on the steep section of my drive way and have another go.
otherwise I am going out and buying a 2010 landcruiser cab/chassis with the v8 diesel.
