Hi all,

Will a OEM mitsu Gen2 3.0L radiator handle a Gen2 3.5L engine?

Thanks and hope all are well.

Probably, but the stocker is a two row, and you have room for 3 rows in there, so a recore will cure it for sure. IIRC, the tanks are the same shape as a gen1 2.6, which IS a 3row, and you can fit that core to your tanks. Won't work swapping radiators, as the hose connections are different. Look at your bottom radiator header and see if there's a row of dimples there where a 3rd row would go.

Ah-ha! Perfect. I have a Gen2 3.0L 2 row rad that needs minor repair and a gen1 3 row rad. The Gen2 tanks will take a 3 row so it looks like a happy marriage

Thanks Eddy

Glad to help. Nice to see you around a little more, Reuben. I figured you were all busy with the search for a Nobel...

There was a group buy years ago I think Toasty did. It was for a 3row, but now I can't recall what was special about it haha. It was recored and refinished but that's all I can recall.

But so far so good

Yeah, I miss coming on here. My Nobel will have to wait It's a strange system of employment in academia. They give you a job (great), leave you to it, then after 5 years force you to apply for promotion/tenure, but won't say exactly what you need to get it, then if they deny your application you're out . If they accept it they give you a job for life. Hoping for the latter.

Right now I am working a lot writing grants (another messed up system) and getting publications out. I can breath again on August 16th next year when I hand over my absurdly gigantic document for promo/tenure.

A leaking radiator is not what I need right now, but there you go

Angelo - promise I will be in touch soon old friend

The 1995 24v 3.0l radiator is smaller than a 1995 3.5l radiator.

I upgraded the radiator in my 1995 24v 3.0l to the larger 1995 3.5l radiator. The 3.5l radiator has the same width and depth as the 24v 3.0l radiator. But the 3.5l radiator is a couple of inches taller. It's easy to miss this because the top of the radiator is in the same position. The bottom of the 3.5l radiator sits lower in the radiator support. The upper hoses are the same for both. The 3.5l has a longer lower hose.

I can't speak to any changes in radiator size for the 1997 models. You may want to double check the measurements.
