Getting the Wheeling Fever
Before I begin, I want OffRoader to know I did search the forum back 3 years and found little on this subject specific to what I am experiencing.

What I am getting is little to no air flow. I have the fan on high and I get a trickle to the defrost and feet. I get about double (NOT much) to the front vents.
I did read about the linkage problem of the one bottom selector, and plan to check that this weekend. I am writing this to see if there is anything else or other ideas anyone has to address this issue.
Thanks!! smile

You maybe younger and can run faster, but I am older and have been around long enough to know where all the shortcuts are!

The vent lever above the radio operates all the various vents mechanically, not by vacuum. It is very likely that you'll find a bent arm, snapped plastic connection, etc. Also, some of the hinge points were lubricated with white lithium grease and could be in need. The HVAC system is very basic and shouldn't be too hard to diagnose.

Also, you might pull the box apart and get the Evap out of there. Mine in my big raider was FILTHED up. It worked 100% better after I cleaned it. When I finally get my diesel AC working, Im going to pull the evap, and do the same thing.

I had the same problem when repairing my rig. After I could not locate a blockage in the duct system, I replaced the blower motor($45 from advance auto). It cured the problem. The old motor wasn't coming up to full RPM.

Griz, I'm having the exact same issue, Ive checked for crap that fell down the defrost vents and nothing, checked the linkages and they all appear and sound like their working, the fan sounds like its running hard but almost no air out the defrost. I'm going to try to get at the air-box tomorrow.Ill keep you updated. METALMOVER

OK,dug into mine a bit and removed the heater duct below the dash and found a ink pen in there and thought that was easy, removed it and still the same. So I had a buddy moving the selector switch and on the drivers side under the dash you'll notice a white plastic selector plate with 2 rods running to it that wasn't moving in to all its positions,I pushed it to the middle position and waaaalaaa it went to defrost, couldn't get it to move correctly via the cable, but hey I can do it by hand for a bit, or leave it there and where boots.Hope this helps Griz.Goodluck METALMOVER

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Wow! I am sorry, I didn't mean to post and run. My wife had surgery on her 'good eye' just after I posted. She was blind in the other eye so that means she is basically totally blind. Making it interesting around my house with a 5 year old and a 1 year old! Can you say Mr. Mom?

Anywho! Thanks Gentlemen for the places to start. I am gonna play with the linkage and see what I can find out, it just seems like I should get something more. The fan works and is blowing somewhere...just not out the vents.
Thanks METALMOVER!
Again I appreciate the info and will let you know what I find out! Or at least I may just get me some of those expensive 12V socks and heated seat pads? smile
Take care and have a Merry Christmas gang!!
