Need a Spot
Finally got lucky and found a bouncy seat at the local Pick n Pull yesterday. Perfect timing as I'm about midway through a cosmetic refreshing of my '89 Raider. New paint, custom rack, wheels/tires, mirrors, lights, recovering seats etc. My question is, the bouncy seat frame is disgustingly filthy, greasy with dust and dirt caked on along with the usual rusty spots. The best option my buddy and I can find to get this thing really cleaned and degreased so I can work on the rust and then repaint is to power wash the thing either using a home unit or take it to a do it yourself car wash and blast it clean. Any thoughts or concerns about using pressured water to clean this frame?

Thanks a bunch for any help you can provide.

It good that you found a bouncy frame, you'll like it.

As to your question;

Be brave and trust you mechanical skills and do what you think is right.

I know that's not the answer you wanted, but sometime we have to let you young ones make the right choice on your own.

Start the process by saying, what the heck could happen if it got wet. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
True, true. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

I just did this with my newly aquired bouncy frame, remove the bolt on the top of the shock and if you notice at the back of the upper and lower sliding frame you will find two c clips remove them and you will be able to separate the upper and lower pieces of the frame.

Once you do that you can remove the springs the pin that holds the adjusting screw and then the sliding part that adjust the height.

Give it a good clean up, new grease and a fresh coat of paint and you will be riding in pure softness.
