How on earth are you supposed to get those two bolts right at the top of the gearbox?
I can get a boomerang spanner onto them but dont have the room to work it.
What have you done to get them?

IIRC, we accesed the bolts from behind the gearbox using a Ratchet with multiple long extensions and at the end a wobble extension.

I don't know about a Triton ML but on two transmissions I've done, a few feet of extensions and a wobble end, wrenching from behind the transmission was very productive. On my friends Ford pickup, had to unbolt the cross member and pull the trans down some in order to get at the bolts. Not fun.

Triton is the truck, what we call a pickup truck and I think you call a "ute"? Is it 4wd? If so, pull off the transfer case and let the tranny dangle down, and use the above method. If it's a 2wd, you may be able to let it droop down just by taking out the crossmemeber.

Brilliant! It worked. I didn't even know there was a wobble extension. Thanks :-)
