I've a friend of a friend here in Cambodia who's really getting ripped by the local garages and can't get his ride sorted. Everyone's taking him for a walk to the bank, but they're not fixing the truck. He's running a diesel Pajero motor with a Montero body and running gear - and getting fuel mileage that's heartbreaking. Any chance you can take a look-see at his post and see if you know what the problem could be? If there's a "diesel specialist", I'd take the truck straight to him. THere are some better diesel guys than me on here, but attention is sparse until the holidays are over. Be patient.
